Join Us In The Fight Against Homelessness

Home maintenance is our passion. We love helping our customers create, renovate and maintain the space where they live and make memories.  At the same time, we are an efficient, problem-solving machine that takes the “chore” out of home ownership and puts the “life” back in it.  And as part of that, we strive every day to exceed our customers’ expectations.

And while we’re out at work every day, we are reminded that not everybody is as fortunate.  There are people – neighbors! – who, by whatever the circumstance, don’t have a warm bed to sleep in at night… and sometimes, not even a safe and reasonably dry street corner.  News reports indicate that the average middle class family is no more than one incident – a health crisis, an accident or a financial curveball – away from financial disaster.  At the same time, more and more youth are finding themselves on the street.

But in most cases, we’ve learned, homelessness is not merely a financial problem. It’s a relationship problem.

Our hearts go out to those folks.

Earlier this year, we decided to do something about that. We decided to reserve a portion of each dollar earned in our business to support the dedicated fight against homelessness in Western Washington:

Over the next 3 years, HISBIZ PAINTING has pledged to give $100,000 to the Lighthouse Mission in Bellingham, Cocoon House in Snohomish County, and Union Gospel Mission in Seattle.

Each of these groups bring together resources, training, and funds to provide services like emergency shelters, counseling and training, and long-term perspective to those in need.

Allow us to introduce them:

HISBIZ Painting supports Lighthouse Mission Ministries in Bellingham, WALIGHTHOUSE MISSION BELLINGHAM

The only walk-in resuce mission between Everett and Vancouver, BC, The Lighthouse Mission is helping Whatcom County’s men, women, and children get back on their feet and on with their lives.
In June, the Whatcom County Coalition to End Homelessness released their 2016 Annual Report. It states: “Compared to 2015, the number of unsheltered persons encountered increased 40% by this 2016 Count.”

Lighthouse Mission Ministries aim to provide direction and opportunity to people who have lost their path. A person who is given hope, direction, and skills has the opportunity to return to a productive and dignified position in our community.

More than 34% of the total homeless population is under the age of 24. Cocoon House is a non-profit that conducts outreach to, and provides short and long term housing for homeless and at-risk young people, including their children. Parents of teens can also find support for themselves and their families at Cocoon House so that young people do not become homeless.  The comprehensive approach of Cocoon House ensures that each young person is met where they are, physically and emotionally, to ensure the best possible outcomes for their future.

HISBIZ PAINTING supports Union Gospel Mission in SeattleUNION GOSPEL MISSION SEATTLE

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission provides emergency care and long-term recovery services to hurting and homeless people in the greater Seattle area. We are called to dream big as the gap widens between human need and public resources. We’re expanding our efforts like never before — beyond Seattle to the rest of King County.

The Union Gospel Mission fights poverty with 5 Mission Initiatives that tackle these key problems: Hunger – Homelessness – Poverty – High Risk Youth – Addiction

Together, we can bring hope to the darkest places in Seattle.  Find out how you can get involved at www.ugm.org

We are proud to partner with these amazing groups, with our customers, and with our team members to fight against homelessness. You can make an impact with us, simply by getting your walls painted, or your windows cleaned.

“Hunger, homelessness, poverty and addiction are tearing families apart by the seams.
The American Dream is in danger, and it’s up to those of us living it to keep it alive.”

Together, we can bring back the American Dream… for everyone!
